What is SpellABC.com?
SpellABC.com is a spelling-practice website for children in kindergarten through grade 7, where every word is read aloud and practised across fifteen different exercise types. Parents create a profile for each child, children practise on their own device, and teachers can join to follow their students' progress.
How much does SpellABC.com cost?
SpellABC.com is free to use while it is in beta. There is no payment step and no card is required to create an account. Paid plans may be introduced later, and any change would be announced before it takes effect.
Which grades is SpellABC.com for?
Kindergarten through grade 7, roughly ages five to thirteen. A short placement check at sign-up finds the right starting level, and the level moves up as a child's accuracy and independence improve.
How do children sign in without an email address?
A parent generates a one-time link and a six-digit PIN from their dashboard. Opening that link on the child's device and entering the PIN creates a device session that lasts up to 30 days. Children never need an email address or a password, and a parent can revoke any device instantly.
Is my child's data sent to an AI model?
No name, email address, account id, age or raw keystroke log is ever sent to an AI model. Progress reports are generated from aggregate practice statistics — accuracy, timing, hint usage and which curriculum words were difficult — and that boundary is enforced in a single code path with automated tests.
How do teachers join SpellABC.com?
Teachers sign in with Google and enter an invite code. Once a parent registers their child with that teacher and the teacher accepts, the teacher can see the child's progress and assign word lists to individuals or a whole class.
How many practice modes are there?
15. Each one trains a different part of spelling — hearing a word and typing it, building it from letters or syllables, spotting a misspelling in a sentence, or recalling it from its meaning. Sessions mix them automatically, matched to the child's grade. Every mode can be tried on the site without an account.
Are the words read aloud?
Yes — both the word on its own and the example sentence it appears in are pre-recorded, so a speller hears the pronunciation and then hears the word used in real context. Audio can be replayed as many times as needed. Each grade has its own voice, so younger spellers hear a slower, clearer delivery.
Do children need headphones to use SpellABC.com?
Headphones are strongly recommended. Several exercise types have no visible question at all — the spoken word or sentence is the prompt — so without sound those exercises cannot be answered. Headphones matter most in a classroom or shared room, where a dozen spellers may be working at once. Every exercise that has audio shows a headphones badge so the child knows to listen.
